We also have Headstone reading that were done in the 1970's that we have tried to match up with the book.

Burial book shows Lot 23 grave 1 as John died 1875, headstone reading says Nov 19, 1807-Aug 19, 1875

Burial book shows Lot 23 grave 2 as George died 1856, headstone reading says Geo W. son of J and A Mar 30, 1833 -Nov 30, 1856

Burial book shows Lot 23 grave 3 as June died 1856, headstone reading says Oct 8, 1778 - Oct 20, 1858 also in same Lot which is strange reads that a John L 1834-1863 is buried here, the headstone reads John L Oct 3, 1835-Sep 6, 1863 (did this guy maybe die in the war and he is not actually buried here and they just put up a memorial stone? just a thought, not sure how 2 people can be buried in same place? but ya never know)

Burial book shows Lot 39 grave 1 J. only died 1858, (someone wrote in June and I don't think this is a 2nd June but it is Joseph. headstone reading says Joseph, son of I and G Apr 18, 1857-Nov 2, 1858 Burial book shows Lot 39 grave 2,3,4,5,6 are owned by Darrow family Burial book shows Lot 39 grave 7 reads Jos. 1858, headstone reading says James Oct 8, 1850-Oct 20 1858

Noted events in his life were:

1. Alt. Birth, 1778, Washington, Maryland, United States.

2. 1800 US Census, August 1800, Frederick, Maryland, United States. ³ 1800 US Census

Depending upon his age, he would have been in any one of 3 male age groups:
3 males 16-26...Christopher age 24; any two of Henry, Jacob, John, Frederick, or George
1 male 10-16...any one of Henry, Jacob, John, Frederick, or George
2 males under 10...Michael age 7; any one of Henry, Jacob, John, Frederick, or George

(Living with parents.)

John Ernsberger...71..MD

(Living with 2nd wife, 2 un-married children, 1 married son with his wife and her brother.)

4. Cemetery: Forest Hill Cemetery, 22 October 1858, Jones, Iowa, United States. Apparently there is no visible gravestone for John Ernsberger. Find-A-Grave indicates the burial of a "June" Ernsbarger who was born in 1778 and died on the same exact day as John, 20 Oct 1858. I suspect the name of John was transcribed incorrectly and June is actually John. Find A Grave Memorial #57703908

There are no other "Ernsbergers" buried at Forest Hill Cemetery but there are several "Ernsbargers" including his son, John who was buried under the surname of Ernsbarger.

John married Mary Smith on 14 September 1801 in Frederick, Maryland, United States.¹ (Mary Smith was born on 10 November 1784 in Maryland, United States, died on 21 September 1823 in Monroe Township, Richland, Ohio, United States and was buried on 23 September 1823 in Lucas, Richland, Ohio, United States.)

Family Archive #004, Marriage Index: Maryland, NC, VA, 1624-1915, "CD-ROM," This marriage index shows their names spelled as "Mary Smith and John Arndperger", obviously a misspelling of his last name.

John next married Mary Ann Archer in 1827 in Richland, Ohio, United States. (Mary Ann Archer was born in 1798 in Virginia, United States ^{2 5} and died after 1 June 1860.)

Noted events in their marriage were:

1. 1850 US Census, 22 August 1850, Mifflin Township, Richland, Ohio, United States. ⁴ Page 247B, Roll 724, Dwelling 175, Family 175

John Ernsberger...71..MD
Mary Ernsberger...52..VA
Levi Ernsberger...21..OH
Sarah Ernsberger...17..OH
Daniel Ernsberger...14..OH
Caroline Ernsberger...21..NH
Harris Hastings...22..NH

NOTE - Caroline Ernsberger was actually Caroline Hastings who was the wife of Levi Ernsberger. Harris Hastings must have been her brother. The death certificate for their son, Daniel Franklin Ernsberger, lists his father as Levi Ernsberger and his mother as Caroline Hastings. No other proof of their marriage seems to exist.

The name of the son David Ernsberger is missing from this 1870 census and for the first the name of Daniel Ernsberger is shown but strangely with the same approximate year of birth. I'm not sure if they were two different people or two different names for the same person.
