Chester Gantz of Argos died at his home in that city Sunday morning at 2 o'clock. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gantz, aged 33 years, and leaves a wife and one child five years of age. He was the freight agent at the Nickel Plate railroad in Argos, and was taken ill with pneumonia about a week ago.

Chester L. Gantz, only son of Frank and Mary Gantz was born in Bourbon, Indiana, December 3, 1883. He was married to Mary Etta Wartenbe, May 2, 1911. To this union was born one son, Chester Floyd.

About two weeks ago he took sick with pneumonia and departed this life January 21, 1917, at the age of 32 years, 1 month, and 18 days. He is survived by his wife, only son, Chester Floyd, father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gantz, two sisters, and other relatives and a large circle of friends.

He became a telegraph operator at 21 years of age. He served in this capacity in the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad at Bourbon for two years and for the Union Pacific in the west for two years. For some time he operated a dray line in the city. In August 1912, he entered the employ of the Nickel Plate at Peabody, Indiana as agent. After two and a half years, he with his wife and son came to Argos where he served as ticket and freight agent until the time of his death.

Brother Gantz with his wife were converted, baptized, and united with the Argos M. E. church under the pastorate of Rev. G. Hartman Bright.

Mr. Gantz was greatly devoted to his home and family, was entering actively into the work of the church of his choice, was highly respected and honored by all who knew him. He is not dead, but lives.

The Argos Reflector of last week has the following to say relative to the wedding of parties whom our people, many of them are interested in: "At the residence of the officiating minister, Rev. G. Hartman Bright, Chester L. Gantz and Miss Mary Etta Wartenbe were united in marriage at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening. Both parties are well-known in Argos and vicinity as young people worthy of general esteem. The bride has for a number of years held a responsible position in the office of Secretary Corey of the Hardware association. The groom has been connected for several years with the Argos Transfer Line. Both have discharged their duties in a way that has won for them the commendation of all observant citizens. Mr. and Mrs. Gantz will make their future home in southwest Argos where the farsighted groom has already purchased a cozy home. The Reflector voices the general congratulations".

Chester is the son of our well known and highly respected citizens, Frank Gantz and wife, southwest of this place.
