In 1951 Charles applied for and received a "Delayed Birth Certificate" from the State of Iowa claiming that his birth date was 8 Nov 1910. He included proof of supporting evidence from his marriage and military record. The problem is that he was born in 1909 instead of 1910. The proof of that is that he appeared with his parents on the 1910 US Census with an age of 5 months. If he had been born in Nov 1910, then he would not have been on the 1910 US Census at all.
