NOTE - If her birth date was August 09, 1836, then her age should have been, 43 instead of 41.

• She was buried after 31 December 1883 in the West Bethel Cemetery in Iowa Township, Cedar County, IA.

The gravestone for William and his wife, Margaret, is a white sandstone obelisk with the name WYMER in large block letters around the base. Her name is inscribed on the one side which has weathered quite badly and reads "Margaret, wife of Wm. Wymer, Born (unreadable), Died Dec ??, 188?, Aged ?? Ys. 8 Ms. 22 Ds."

After manipulating the image in Photoshop, the best that I can determine is the date of death is Dec 31, 1883. Yvonne Linn has given the year as 1882 but to me the image of the 3 seems most probable. The age at death seems to read "47y 4 m 22d" but the number of years is not all that distinct. It appears more like 87 years but that would put their age differences at too much of an extreme. The next most likely reading is therefore 47 years.

The date of birth is not readable at all to me but if she were 47 years old when she died, then the calculated birth date would be August 09, 1836. These dates all seem likely but were subject to my interpretation and should be revised if any other document provides a different date. In August of 2011, an e-mail from Jacie Thomsen indicated that her gravestone rubbing shows the birth date to be April 9, 1834 which would make her 49 years old when she died.

Another inscription reading was done by descendants of the Wymer family several years prior to my attempt in 2002. They read the birth date as "Unknown 9, 1834" and death date as "Dec 21, 1883. This would make her 49 years old when she died. Therefore, I am accepting the "April 9, 1834" date of birth as correct.

NOTE - I have no idea just who "Chester LaRue" would be.

Based on the following email from Yvonne Linn on April 14, 2004, it can be safely assumed that the "Ann" or "Allie" Wymer in the 1880 census was Emily Alice Wymer and her age at the time of the census was 18:
"I have been in touch with Vern Elarth who descends from Emily Wymer and Alexander Mackie's daughter, Kate, and husband Theo Elarth. He is making me some copies of pictures he has of Clarence and Katie. He is also sending a copy of a family document, he thinks probably written by Katie, that gives Emily's birth date as 16 Jun 1861. That makes her the "Allie" in the 1880 census. It also makes more sense than the 1877 date we had from Eugene Linn's family tree."
