Thomas "Jeff" Carney is buried in a Carney Family Plot area of Rochester Cemetery. His gravestone is a small flat gray granite monument which reads "Thomas J., 1860 - 1928". This old and rather large cemetery has been allowed to revert to its natural prairie grass and wildflower vegetation. Only the immediate areas around each of the widely scattered graves have been cleared of weeds by family members which means that there are many gravestones covered and obscured by several years growth of weeds, grasses, and small brush making locating any gravestones a very difficult encounter.
