John Nicholas Bowman, youngest son of Phillip Casper and Katy Fast Bowman, was born in Redstone, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, 22 Dec 1791. He came to Ohio with his parents in 1806 at the age of fifteen. John N. Bowman and Catharine Altman were married 19 Nov 1815. Catherine Altman was born 18 Dec 1796. John N. Bowman and Catherine Altman first located in Green Township (now Mahoning), Ohio on a portion of land his father, Phillip C. Bowman, deeded to him. John N. Bowman and his family afterwards moved to Richland County (now Ashland County) locating on a farm near Polk. John Nicholas Bowman died 22 Feb 1856, aged 66 years. Catherine Bowman, his wife, died 27 Feb 1868, aged 72 years. There were ten children.
