bullet  Marriage Notes:

The exact names and dates of birth of their children is problematic. Most of the entries for the Darner children in the Muskingum County Birth Register book have no given name for them. One could assume that the dates of birth would easily match up with the allegedly known dates for the children but even that does not work in certain cases.

This problem continues with two additional un-named daughters born in 5 Sep 1888 and 8 Mar 1889. A daughter named Bertha has an alleged birth date of Aug 1888 as shown on the 1900 US Census so perhaps the birth record of 5 Sep 1888 is very close and might be hers. But whose record is from 8 Mar 1889?

Research records show the next two daughters to be Anna E. born Feb 1891 according to the 1900 US Census and Elizabeth A. Darner, born on 7 Mar 1891 according to the Birth Register book. I suspect that these two are the same person. If so, then which month is correct, February or March? It's not really significant but I think the 1900 US Census date of Feb is probably more accurate than the March date from the Birth Register book. Maybe it took the doctor or the county clerks several weeks to get around to entering the information.

To make matters even worse, on the 1900 US Census, Sarah indicated that she had given birth to a total of 5 children and all 5 were still alive. She then proceeded to list 6 children as daughters and one son. By the best of my count, she probably had 8 children born and 6 were still alive. The un-named son born in 1887 and the un-named daughter born on 7 Mar 1891 must both have died young, before the 1900 US Census. The six the lived were Allie (1882), William (1884), Bertha (1888), Anna (1891), Maggie (1893), and Emily (1896). They did have one more son, Lewis, born 1901.
