Thomas LaVerne Lightfoot 1 2
- Born: 25 September 1930, Eau Claire, WI 1 2
- Marriage (1): Unknown
- Died: 11 March 1978, , Hennepin County, MN at age 47 1
Another name for Thomas was Marvin LaVerne Johnson.3
General Notes:
Thomas was given the surname of Lightfoot by Stacia because at the time of his birth, the mother of Stacia, Rose Stoops, had been remarried to Charles Lightfoot and Stacia Chandler was being raised or perhaps officially adopted by Charles. Her name appears on the 1920 US Census as Stacia Lightfoot. ------------------------------------------
According to Beverly Morgenstern, Thomas was an illegitimate birth from Stacia who was only 16 at the time. Details of the name of the biological father of Thomas had been held secret by Stacia and the only possible information discerned by his daughter, Leann, was that Stacia may have been in his employ and that he was a 40-year old Jewish man. Thomas was adopted by Arthur and Bertha Johnson.
An email from his daughter claims that Thomas LaVerne Lightfoot was officially adopted by Arthur and Bertha Johnson and given the name Marvin LaVerne Johnson. The birth record for Marvin LaVerne Johnson show his father to be Arthur Johnson and his mother to be Bertha Pluntz but there is no clear indication of an adoption and I am unsure if adoption proceedings can go back and change or create birth record information under the newly adopted name.
Strangely, the birth record for Marvin is marked as "Abridged" and apparently in the State of Wisconsin that does mean modified. There is another birth record for Thomas LaVerne Lightfoot showing Stacia as the mother and the birth has no name for the father. It has the same exact date and time entries as the birth record for Marvin LaVerne Johnson. ---------------------------------------
