"Maryland, Births and Christenings, 1650-1995," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V2WT-XY9 : accessed 07 Sep 2013), Lucy May Sulcer, 20 Sep 1885.

NOTE - The date of this baptism is about 1 year before her birth date. Obviously, one is wrong. The 1886 birth year was taken from the 1900 US Census but her age on that record was originally written as 14 and then overwritten as 13 in order to make the 1886 birth year correct. I suspect that she actually was 14 years old at the time thereby making her birth year 1885. And if that were so, then this baptismal record also would be correct.

NOTE - The name of Paul Sulcer is not known. It is tempting to assume that he might be a brother of Lucy because the sister, Mary, was also living there. However, Mary was listed as a sister (should have been sister-in-law) but Paul was listed only as a "lodger". Therefore no relationship can be assumed without additional documentation.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

All 3 of John and Lucy's daughters were born in Minnesota. It is not known for sure if they were married in Maryland or Minnesota but since both were from Maryland it would seem that the marriage ceremony was probably in Maryland. For whatever reason, they soon moved to Polk County, Minnesota which is just across the state border from Grand Forks, North Dakota. Following the births of the daughters in 1911, 1913, and 1915 (no actual birth records have been found) and probably following one too many extremely cold winters, the entire family moved back to Frederick County, Maryland. John's WW I draft registration card shows him back there in 1918. They also show up in Frederick county for the 1920, 1930, and 1940 US Census.
