Funeral services were held at 10 AM Wednesday from the McAninch Chapel in Victor for George Lyman, 91. Rev. George Roquet, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, Brooklyn, officiated. Mr. Lyman died April 24 at the Plaine Crest Nursing Home, Belle Plaine, where he has spent the past three years. Mrs. Edith Shaul was organist. Casket bearers were David Dolmage, Merlyn Mohr, Wallace Hladky, Johnnie Werle and Dennis Dolmage. Honorary bearers were Wallace Edelen, Andrew Calderwood, August Heinen, Cliff Williamson, Glen Connell, Nelson Korns and Delmar Heishman. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Victor.
George Lyman, the son of George and Mary Jane Border Lyman, was born in Victor April 29, 1876. He received his education in the rural school. On Oct. 18, 1899 he married Maude Mae Keysor. They farmed in Poweshiek, moving to Brooklyn in 1930 where they lived until Mr. Lyman's health failed in 1964. He was hospitalized at the Marengo Memorial hospital and later transferred to the Plaine Crest Nursing home. He served on the board of the Poweshiek county Mutual Insurance company of Grinnell for 33 years. He was assessor, township trustee, director of the rural school for several years, a member of the Brooklyn I.O.O.F. lodge for over 50 years and a charter member of the Golden Wedding club of Brooklyn. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman observed their 67th wedding anniversary on October 18, 1966.
Survivors include his wife, Maude and their seven children, Cecil, Fort Dodge; Cloyd, Victor; Marie, Mrs. J. F. Hladky, Mrs. Wayne Dolmage, Victor; Thelma, Mrs. Dale Mohr, West Liberty; Dorothy, Mrs. Wayne Heishman, Des Plaines, Illinois, and Bernice, Mrs. T. W. Reida, Lake View; 25 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Bope, Belle Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, three brothers, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. --------------------------------------------------------- .

GEORGE LYMAN'S OBSERVE FIFTIETH WEDDING DATE
On Sunday, October 16 Mr. and Mrs. George Lyman observed their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Brooklyn. the couple held open house in the afternoon and evening to welcome their guests. One hundred and seventy-five friends and relatives signed the guest book. guests coming to congratulate the couple on this happy occasion were served ice-cream and cake. The couple received many gifts in commemoration of the day. The table was attractively decorated for the memorable day with a three-tiered cake topped with a pair of golden slippers serving as centerpiece. On either side of the cake were yellow tapers and bouquets of yellow chrysanthemum. Other bouquets of flowers, gifts of friends, were placed throughout the home. Mrs. Rose Connell, Mrs. Harvey Jones, Glenn Connell, Mrs. Ollie Vermace and Mrs. Edith Dupre were among the guests who were present at the wedding fifty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman have seven children who, with their families, were all home for the occasion. The children are; Cecil, Cloyd and Mrs. Hazel Dolmage of Victor, Mrs. Marie Hladky of Paullina, Mrs. Thelma Mohr of West Liberty, Mrs. Dorothy Heishman of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Bernice Reida of Lake View. G. LYMAN'S OBSERVE 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Victor: Mr. and Mrs. George Lyman, former residents of this community, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at their home in Brooklyn. Decorations consisted of cut flowers, golden in color. The table, covered with a lace cloth, was centered with a two-tiered wedding cake, white with yellow flower decorations and topped with a pair of golden slippers. Several of their children entertained Mr. and Mrs. Lyman at a dinner downtown at the noon hour, after which open house was held both afternoon and evening at the Lyman home. Two hundred guests came to offer congratulations. Mr. Lyman was born north of Victor Apr. 29, 1876. Mrs. Lyman, the former Maud Keysor, was born Mar. 5, 1877, at Brooklyn. they were married at Brooklyn by Rev. Hannan Oct. 18, 1899. They made their home east of Hartwick for seven years, when they moved to a home south west of Victor where they lived for more than 25 years. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman celebrated both their 25th and 35th wedding anniversaries. They made their home in Brooklyn since moving from the Victor community. They have two sons, Cecil and Cloyd of Victor and five daughters, Mrs. Marie Hladky of Paulina, Mrs. Hazel Dolmage of Victor, Mrs. Thelma Mohr of West Liberty, Mrs. Bernice Reida of Lakeview and Mrs. Dorothy Heishman of La Crosse, Wisconsin. All of the children were present to help in the celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman have 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Lyman has one sister, Mrs. Rose Connell of Seattle, Wash., who also came for the event. Mr. Lyman has one brother, Ora Lyman of Traer and four sisters, Mrs. Alma Dutro of Cincinnati, O., Mrs. Bertha Bope of Belle Plaine, Mrs. Edith Dupre of Toledo and Mrs. Ollie Vermace of Mount Pleasant. The latter three were present Sunday. Mrs. Dupre, Mrs. Vermace and Mrs. Connell had attended the wedding 50 years ago. The couple received many gifts and cards. Members of the family served refreshments in which the color scheme was carried out. ----------------------------------------

SOCIETY: Surprise Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Lyman On 35th Wedding Anniversary. The children and their families of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Lyman surprised them on Oct. 18, the occasion being their 35th wedding anniversary. They all arrived to spend the evening bringing refreshments with them.
