bullet  Marriage Notes:

MERCK-LYMAN 1928

Miss Margaret Merck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Merch of Victor, and Cloyd Lyman, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lyman of Carnforth, were married at 5 PM, Tuesday June 19, at the home of the bride's parents. The house was tastefully decorated in pink and white, and the ceremony took place under a canopy of pink and white, with large white bells. Preceding the nuptials, Miss Lydia Bartz sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd," after which Miss Esther Bartz played the "Bridal Wreath" wedding march. The young couple then entered the parlor, preceded by little Miss Laura Meinke, bearing the rings in a lily, and Verna Belle Merck as flower girl, strewing rose petals in the pathway of the bride and groom. Rev. Wm. Bartz, past or of Saint James Lutheran church, spoke the words that made them man and wife, using the double-ring ceremony. Miss Lydia Bartz then sang "How Sweet Is Love," after which congratulations and best wishes were extended the happy couple.

The bride was gowned in a very pretty dress of white georgette, trimmed with wide Oriental lace, and carried a bouquet of white roses. The little flower girl and ring bearer were each dressed in pink. A two-course wedding dinner was served at 6 o'clock to the guests, numbering about 50 relatives and a few close friends. The table decorations were in pink and white. The bride is a very popular and charming young woman, a graduate of the class of 1925 of the Victor high school, and a faithful worker in Saint James church.

The groom is an industrious young man of exemplary habits and is well liked by all. He has been engaged in farming and also in road work in Poweshiek county. The best wishes of many friends go with this young couple for their happiness in life. For the present they are making their home with the bride's parents.
