The following story was told in November of 1920 by Mary Fost, one of William's daughters:
William Bice Sr. was born in the state of New Jersey. His parents died there when he was age five. He and his sister came to Pennsylvania where he was raised by a family by the name of Street. His sister took the position of huckster, selling truck in Philadelphia. She became wealthy we understand. Later we learned of a maiden lady who died there by that name leaving her possessions to the Gerard College and Churches 28 Oct 1815.
William Bice was married to Mary Ingling, the daughter of Samuel and Mary, his wife of Pennsylvania descent. Her father being killed within a well. Her mother moved with her children to Columbiana County, Ohio. William and Mary, his wife, settled near Salem and Benton in Columbiana County. To them were born 12 children. Sarah, the oldest died at age 18 and was buried at Goshen, Columbiana County. Samuel, the second child, married Martha Lovecy and later moved to Allen County. (Note - So Samuel and Martha must have been married in Columbiana County). William and the rest of the family moved to Lima, Allen County, Ohio for about a year then moved to General Blackburns farm at Fort Amanda, Allen County, Ohio. They stayed there four years then moved on his own farm near Neptune, Mercer County, Ohio where he lived and died.
