2 Suffering a fractured hip several weeks ago in a fall at her home in Smithfield, Mrs. Sarah Musgrove Shoaf, aged 82 years and 4 months, died at 5:50 Thursday evening, June 2, 1938, at the family residence.

Mrs. Shoaf, one of the most widely known residents of Fayette county and a descendant of a pioneer family in this district, was the oldest living member of the Fort Gaddis Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a charter member of the Chapter with which her four daughters are affiliated. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church of Smithfield.

Mrs. Shoaf was the daughter of James and Rebecca Stentz Musgrove, early settlers in Fayette county. She resided her entire life in Smithfield and vicinity where all who knew her will long remember her lovable disposition and her keen sense of civic and religious righteousness. She leaves a wide circle of acquaintances to mourn her death.

Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Dora Wilson and Mrs. Rebecca Preece, Smithfield; Mrs. Rose Abel, Fairchance; Mrs. Kathryn Tague, Smithfield, and Mrs. Olive Hill, Finleyville; one brother, Henry Mathiot Musgrove, Homestead; a half-sister Mrs. Clark Kisner, Fairmont, W. Va,; 18 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.

Brief funeral services will be held at 3:30 Sunday afternoon at the home, followed by additional rites at 4 o'clock in the Presbyterian church at Smithfield. Rev C. D. A. Hoon will officiate and burial will follow in the Baptist cemetery.
