Dr. L. R. Fast graduated from the National Normal University, College of Medicine, in 1891. He also graduated from the Barnes Medical College, Saint Louis, Missouri, in 1898. He served as a medical Captain and Post Surgeon during World War I. Dr. L. R. Fast was a great genealogy enthusiast, and was a major contributor in assisting Wirt G. Faust in compiling material for his book "By Way of Rotterdam".
