• Her obituary was published in the Adrian Daily Telegram on 11 September 1920 in Adrian, MI.

Mrs. Margaret Crisher
Margaret Lightfoot was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, Aug. 25, 1833. At the age of 9 years, she together with her parents, two brothers and three sisters journeyed westward in a covered wagon. During the journey, the three oldest children, including Margaret ran behind the wagon making most of the trip on foot. Each day as the shades of night commenced to fall, a camp fire was built and after the evening meal each sought a bed, either under or near the wagon.

After several weeks of traveling the....(?) party arrived at West Unity and about one and one-half miles from that place, a little homestead was taken up. A large oak afforded shelter for the family until trees were felled and a cabin built, which as hemmed in on all sides by a dense forest.

On February 13, 1850, Margaret Lightfoot was united in marriage to Samuel Reppert, who passed away Nov 12, 1862. One child, Mrs. H. H. Pixley, survives this union. In 1864 she was united in marriage to William Crisher, to which union four children were born, two of whom, William Crisher of Jackson and Margaret Crisher of Pontiac, survive. The together with an adopted daughter, Mrs. Corwin Alexander, of Pontiac, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wirick of Waldron and Mrs. Lydia Ritenour of Detroit, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren are left.

She lived a noble, Christian life; was always ready to lend a helping hand, and rendered unselfish devotion to her children and her God. One of the comforting promises today to the surviving relatives are the words of John, the Revelator: "Blessed are they that die in the Lord."

After an illness of four weeks she passed away in Pontiac Monday morning, Sept. 6, 1920 at the age of 87 years. The body was brought to Hudson Tuesday and taken to the home of the daughter, Mrs. H. Pixley, where the funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. She was laid to rest in Maple Grove cemetery by the side of her husband, William Crisher, who passed away 28 years ago.
