General Notes:
E-mail from Keith A. Dull: Sometime in the 1790s, John, Daniel, and William all moved to Baltimore, North Hundred, near the town of Ruhl, Maryland. The 1810 Census says John was in Mine Run Hundred, but the census taker was not doing a good job that year. They were close to the border of North and Mine Run. Adam Schmidt had a farm in North Hundred as did Georg Ruhl, who appears in Mine Run in 1810. ----------------------------------------

Jacob Lightfoot, retired, Fayetteville, Greene Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, born 23 Apr 1812 in Franklin Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, son of William and Esther (Smith) Lightfoot. Came at age 12 with father William Lightfoot, a blacksmith, to Greene Township.
William Lightfoot b. York, Pennsylvania, son of Daniel Lightfoot. William died near Mercersburg, Franklin County at age 72. Esther died at Greenwood, Franklin County, Pennsylvania at age 52. They had the following children: Solomon; William; Ruth; Jacob; Sarah; Rachel; Levi; Catherine; and Margaret.
NOTE - The above birth location and parentage of William is believed to be incorrect. A birth or Christening record from Virginia establishes his true birth location as Virginia and the names of his parents, William and Sarah.
Jacob educated in Franklin County, was a shoemaker for 12 yrs., then blacksmith for 40 years, also farmed, now retired. He married Elizabeth Peters (died 8 Apr 1886, age 69 y, 9 mo). She was the mother of 4 children: S. Jane, died age 19; William; Rosannah m. Jeremiah Harmon; and Elizabeth m. J. Brown.
Mr. Lightfoot was an active member of Church of God for 40 yrs. and served as elder for many years. He is a Democrat. ----------------------------------------
There was a request for a pension from a William Lightfoot that was denied. He stated that he was a Private that enlisted in May 1812 in Captain McIntosh's company for five years, was marched into Canada, and was engaged in the battle of Williamsburg. Not enough identifying information is given to know if this would be the same William Lightfoot.

NOTE - The names of the children are somewhat guesswork because it was entirely possible that some of the older children may have moved out on their own or had gotten married. Sometimes the married child and spouse were living with the parents and there might have been grandchildren living with the families as well. These grandchildren could be the very young "under 5" male and female who cannot be identified on this census. .
Marriage Notes:
Based on likely census records giving the name "William Lightfoot" and various birth locations of their children, it would appear that they lived in the following locations:
1803..married in Baltimore 1804-1804..children born in York County, Pennsylvania 1810..census in Adams County, Pennsylvania 1820..census in Adams County, Pennsylvania 1830..census in Franklin County, Pennsylvania
The only census record that seems to be highly possible is the 1830 because it also shows some of his married children living in the same county. The other census records are not assured to be the correct person but based on other research information, they seem very plausible. -------------------------------------------------------
