NOTE - The references to William being the son of Daniel Lightfoot are believed to properly reference the grandfather of Jacob, another William Lightfoot, and not Jacob's father who was also named William. Otherwise, Daniel died in 1755 while Jacob's father was not born until 1771 some 16 years later. The name of Margaret as one of the children of William has not been proven.

NOTE - Elizabeth's birth year is difficult to calculate given that she reported that she aged only 8 years between the census of 1860 and 1870. It would appear that Elizabeth and Jacob became moderately wealthy as indicated in the 1870 US Census which showed his real estate holdings valued at $13,500 and his personal estate valued at $1,200. His occupation switched from Farmer in 1850 to Dry Goods Merchant in 1860 and to Tanner in 1870. All of their children must have moved out on their own by 1870 because none are shown living in the same household. The other three individuals shown in the household for the 1870 US Census are unrelated.
