Chester Arthur Lightfoot ¹

Could it be possible that Frank Edward Lightfoot and Chester Arthur Lightfoot were the same person or is it possible that they were twins?

Records for Frank provide a birth date of 20 Aug 1882 in Burlington but these are not official birth records but rather World War I and II Draft Registration cards. The earliest other official record using the name of Frank Lightfoot in the Burlington area occurs in the 1905 Iowa State Census when he was enumerated with his wife.

There are official birth records for Chester Arthur Lightfoot also being born on the same day of 20 Aug 1882 in Burlington. Otherwise there are no other records for that name but interestingly the complete line on the birth register that is right under his name as Chester has been blacked out.

If they were actually twins, then perhaps Chester died early as an infant and only Frank survived into his adulthood. Chester's name was not listed with the family on the 1895 Iowa State Census.

Equally likely is that there could have been only one person originally named Chester and at some point in his life he changed his name to Frank Edward Lightfoot prior to his marriage in 1904.
