bullet  General Notes:

Chester apparently was married at least three times and perhaps 4 times if the Beulah that appears with him in the 1930 census was really his wife.

Marriage 1:
A marriage license shows that Chester was married to Mary Ella Marsh on 4 Oct 1919 in Craig County, Oklahoma. She was born in Illinois and they both show up together on the 1920 census in Craig County, Oklahoma. They were divorced in 1927. No children.

Marriage 2:
The 1930 census for Craig County, Oklahoma shows Chester married to a Beulah born about 1901 in Oklahoma. No marriage license has yet been found to prove this was a valid marriage. No children.

Marriage 3:
A marriage license indicates that Chester was married to Peggy Marie Hood on 17 Feb 1935 in Craig County, OK. No children.

Marriage 4:
A marriage license indicates that Chester was married to Patsy Harrison on 29 Jan 1939 in Benton County, Arkansas. They both show up together on the 1940 census with Patsy's daughter, Barbara Jo Brookshire, from Patsy's previous marriage to Drake Brookshire. Barbara Jo was listed on the 1940 census as Barbara Jo Lightfoot. Eight known children: Sidney, Sondra, Mary, Butch, Carol, Ballary, Debbie, and Pearl.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

NOTE - It is interesting that in just a few months following the marriage ceremony on 4 Oct 1919, Mary indicated that she was 17 years old for the 1920 census conducted in January which would place her birth year as approximately 1902. Since the marriage ceremony occurred in 1919, that would have made her about 17 years old at the time of the marriage yet she indicated on the marriage license that she was 18.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

Although the 1930 census clearly shows a wife with the name of Beulah Lightfoot, there seems to be no evidence of a marriage for Chester R. Lightfoot to anyone with the name of Beulah or any other name prior to 1930 other than Mary Ella Marsh, his first wife in 1919.

In 1935, Chester married Peggy Marie Hood. Both Chester and Peggy had indicated on that marriage license in 1935 that each had been married only once before. Either that was a mistake on Chester's part or perhaps he and the Beulah showing on the 1930 census were never actually married but merely living together and they listed her name on the 1930 census as Beulah Lightfoot as a matter of convenience.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

This marriage license shows "Miss Peggy Marie Hood" on the application but it also indicates that she had been previously married. So it is not clear if Hood would have been a previously married name or her maiden name.
