bullet  General Notes:

Based on how he signed his name on the 1917 WW I Draft Registration Card and how it was entered on the 1942 WW II Draft Registration Card, it is apparent that the spelling of his middle name as Lewis instead of Louis was preferred.

per Martha Drugan-Westphal (Apr 2003):

"My uncle Harry was a real nice guy... very quiet, polite, and a good husband and father. Aunt Ruth was very nice as well. I lived with them when I was 18 and moved to Baraboo. They lived on Vine Street. Every day when I'd come home from working at the Ration Board, Ruth would have a nice lunch waiting for me. I paid them $1.00 a day for room and board. Harry worked for the railroad, and knew your dad's (Robert Westphal) father, Roy. From time to time he'd stop in your grandpa's tavern for a beer after work."
