bullet Burial Notes:

The gravestone is somewhat confusing. The Catherine LaVigne that is buried alongside Aurilla was an older aunt (sister of her mother, Adeline Marie LaVigne). Aurilla and her aunt are buried together because of a very close relationship during their lives. Catherine never married and she lived with Leo and Aurilla beginning in 1920 when they lived in La Crosse, WI and moved with them in 1926 to Florida where she continued to live with them until 1939. At that time, they all returned to Trempealeau where Catherine was living with her uncle, William Perkins, in Trempealeau during the 1940 US Census. Within just a few years, Leo and Aurilla returned to Florida, probably for health reasons. They had been moving to Florida during the harsh winters for a number of years.

When Leo died in 1942, he was buried in the Bay Pines National Cemetery in Bay Pines, Florida because of his military service in the Navy. Aurilla returned back to Trempealeau and lived together with her beloved aunt for 9 more years until Catherine died in 1951. When Aurilla died 19 years later in 1980, she chose to be buried next to her aunt in Trempealeau instead of near her husband in Florida.
