  General Notes:

NOTE - I am confused about some of the children and their birth dates. This 1880 census record from June clearly shows "John Lightfoot" at an age of only one month. The gravestone of son Clarence Lightfoot indicates a birth date of April 1880, yet his name does not appear on this June census record. Since there was no formal birth certificates during those years and parents frequently took several weeks or longer to name a newborn, it may be possible that he may have originally been called John but the parents later decided on Clarence. A son born 4 years later on December 2, 1884 was later named John Henry Lightfoot.

The above record shows a yet unnamed son born on December 2, 1884 and clearly shows that he was the seventh child born to Eva but my list of children currently place him as the eighth child. This means one of the older children must be incorrect or a duplicate. Of the oldest three daughters, Myrtle, Alice, and Jennie, there is no real definitive proof of their birth so it is very likely that at least one of these names is not correct. Perhaps of the three names, one of the name is a middle name or a nickname for one of the other children. More research is needed.

NOTE - On this census record, John indicated that both of his parents were born in Kentucky. Either this is the wrong John Henry Lightfoot or else he was mistaken about their birth places. His father was born in Ohio while his mother was born in Indiana.

NOTE - Once again, similar to the 1920 census, John Henry Lightfoot provided the birth locations for his parents as both being born in Kentucky which means either he was mistaken or this was the wrong John Henry Lightfoot. In addition, this census record showed Henry A. Johnson as a "Father" living with them but actually Henry A. Johnson was the father of Emma and therefore should have been listed as the Father-in-Law.

  Marriage Notes:

NOTE - See the 1920 and 1930 census events for John Henry Lightfoot in which he reported that both of his parents were born in Kentucky instead of the expected Ohio and Indiana. That means that there is a slight chance that the census records from 1920, 1930, and 1940 might be for the wrong John Henry Lightfoot. However, other sources have indicated that the correct John Henry Lightfoot was married to Emma Johnson. The fact that the father-in-law living with them on the 1930 census was named Henry A. Johnson lends more credibility that these records are for the correct John Henry Lightfoot and that he was just mistaken about his parents birth locations.
