NOTE - Inexplicably, Mary's name appears as Susan on this 1870 US Census record. And if her birth date was 16 Mar 1830, then her age should have been 40 instead of 47. Is it possible that David and Mary were divorced and then David remarried sometime between 1860 and 1870 to this unknown Susan?
.

• She was buried after 24 February 1876 in the Niblick Cemetery in Atlanta, IL.

Cannot find a separate stone for Mary Ellen in Niblick cemetery, but we think she is in an unmarked grave next to David.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 7, Ed. 1, Tree #2478]
David and Mary Ellen lived in Anderson, Spencer County, Jefferson and Shelby County in Kentucky before moving to Logan County, Illinois (near Lawndale). One son, Jonas, died in 1865.
----------------------------------------

According to Mollie McFarland, David O. Alsop lived on a houseboat with wife, Mary Ellen, and at least the last 6 children, with a goat, because one of the children needed goats milk. They fished for their meat for their meals. David also had a drinking problem in his later years.
