bullet  General Notes:

William David Alsup, married Florence Lawson. They partied for the first seven years. Finally, they settled down and produced seven children. Life was difficult in the Ozarks during the depression, and food was scarce. Willie worked two jobs to make ends meet. He once bought a lead mine and he worked it with his uncle, Frank. The mine did not produce, and they had to abandon the operation. Florence died at age 47, and Willie remarried Charlie Rowena Thomas. He spent his last years with Rowena. Willie smoked, and in late 1956, he had a lung removed. Willie never left the hospital. He died a few months later, a victim of lung cancer, at the age of 63.

My name is Debra Triplett, and I'm trying to get information on my grandmother, Charlsie Roena Thomas. Her middle name is often spelled Rowena. She was married to my grandfather, William Jefferson Triplett, then remarried later to Mr. Alsup.

My father was Garland Oscar Triplett, one of about 13 children she had....Other children were Dovie, Alene (who died a couple of years ago) Clarence, Vernon. My dad died May 28th, 1994 in Ventura, California, from an aneurysm in the stomach.

I've heard that her last name is spelled two ways: Thomas and Tomas. I know that she is American Indian. I'm trying to find information as to which particular tribe she belonged to.

I've never been able to get past her, so I don't know much, but I believe she had a brother named Ledge. If you have any information at all, it would be very appreciated and extremely helpful... I remember visiting her when I was six years old in Santa Maria, right before she passed away. (I was born in 1956).

I live currently in Sacramento, California. I'd love to hear from you.
