• Her obituary was published on 4 January 1975 in Drummond, OK. Mrs. Zee C. Sherrill, 79, died Friday in a Watonga hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roy C. Rowlan officiating. Burial will be in the Del Norte Cemetery near Drummond under the direction of Harris Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 17, 1895 in Cedar County, Iowa, Mrs. Sherrill attended Silver Lake School near Drummond. She was a member of the Watonga First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, William D. Sherrill, of the home and a sister, Mrs. Wilma Thorlton, Enid.

Zee's gravestone is a small flat block of rose colored granite. On the polished top face, the inscription reads "Zee Sherrill, Nov. 17, 1895 - Jan. 3, 1975". Note that this death date is in conflict with the date from the Social Security Administration's Death Index.

It is interesting to note that although William Sherrill and Zee Doty were married in 1916, their first and only son was not born until 9 years later in 1925.

On his 1917 WWI Draft Registration Card which occurred less than one year after they were married, William indicated that his wife was "about blind".
