Funeral Services for John W. Linn Held Saturday

Funeral services for John W. Linn, age 55, lifetime resident of this community who died at Saint Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids last Thursday afternoon, were held in the Tipton M. E. church at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, the Rev. William Crossley, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Pedee cemetery in the southwestern part of the county.

John Wesley Linn was born Nov. 20th, 1882 in Cedar county. He received his education at the Pedee school near Rochester, Iowa. He has lived near Tipton nearly all his life. His demise followed an illness of several days and a surgical operation at the hospital the fore part of last week. Mr. Linn had been employed by the Iowa state highway commission here.

September 23rd, 1908, he was united in marriage to Ivy Louise Koblentz. To this union were born five children: Clarence E. Linn of Tipton, Mrs. Andrew L. Volkl of Muscatine, Mrs. Lawrence Ford, Tipton, William and Robert Linn both of Tipton, Iowa.

He passed away at Saint Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Thursday, October 28th, 1937, at 2:00 PM. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and five children, four grandchildren; one brother, Earl Linn of Rochester, Iowa; two sisters, Mildred Richards of Tipton, and Mrs. Chloe Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F., the Rebekah Lodge, and the Encampment. He was secretary of the Odd Fellows many years. The sincere sympathy of a host of friends is extended to the family in their sad bereavement.
