There seems to be no information about Nelson (and many of his brothers) as to their whereabouts from 1850 to about 1900. Apparently Nelson served with the Illinois Infantry during the Civil War so at least he or others in his family must have lived in Illinois during those years but little records to substantiate that can be found.
