Mr. Charles William Miller is a son of Frederick and Lydia (Dorner) Miller, and was born in Jefferson district, 21 Dec 1847.

Mr. Miller passed all of his life in the same district. He attended the public schools at Willow Grove, and afterwards those at Jefferson, passing a part of the year in school and during the summer, assisting his father on the farm. This continued until he attained his majority.

At the time of his marriage, Mr. Miller rented, and a short time later bought a small farm close to the one which is now his home; this small farm he sold to his father at the time when he bought Mahogany Heights. This farm was formerly owned by the Lynch family, and was the birthplace of Judge Lynch. It receives its name from two fine mahogany trees, which stand in front of the dwelling. This land is productive, and Mr. Miller is very successful, using the most improved methods and appliances in agriculture.

Charles W. Miller was married in 1873 to Miss Charlotte Sheffer, of Middletown, Maryland, daughter of the late Philip Sheffer, her mother, Mrs. Lucinda (Ahalt) Sheffer, was a daughter of Matthias Ahalt.

Mr. And Mrs. Miller are members of the Lutheran Church at Jefferson. Mr. Miller is an adherent of the Democratic party.
