  General Notes:

"Mr. Wirt Gerry Faust (1886-1952) was the co-compiler of this manuscript. He was a teacher and held the B. A. degree from the University of Wisconsin and the A. M. from Harvard. In college he was a member of the national social fraternity, Sigma Nu. He was a member of the Unitarian Church of New Bedford, Massachusetts; the Sons of the American Revolution thru the service of his great-great-grandfather, John Carter Fast; and of various historical and genealogical societies. Edith Christine Bates (1887-1975), co-compiler of this manuscript, married Mr. Wirt Gerry Faust on August 22, 1922. Mrs. Faust, an author of her own genealogical works, contributed enthusiastically to the compilation and preparation of this document. Mr. Wirt Gerry Faust did all the typing of the original manuscript, which was bound in April 1952. He died in November 1952." --Johann Nicklaus Fast Family Website

The 1918 World War I Draft Registration card for Wirt shows that he was a teacher at the Saint John's Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin but his home residence was shown as Indianapolis, Indiana which is about 300 miles away.

Wirt was enumerated twice in the 1920 US Census: once in Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia on January 10th and again in Lakewood, Cuyahoga County, Ohio on January 15th. He probably had just moved to Lakewood, Ohio from West Virginia where he secured a better teaching position. Its interesting that this move was done in January which was the middle of the traditional school year instead of during the summer recess.

As of today's date (12 July 2021), there are two different Find A Grave memorial pages for Wirt Gerry Faust. The first one established on 20 Apr 2012 is memorial #88866714 which indicates that Wirt was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont, Marion, West Virginia. That data agrees with the death certificate. There is a second Find A Grave memorial page #79976078 established on 6 Nov 2011 which indicates that Wirt was buried near the area where he died at the Bethel Cemetery in Rudolph, Wood County, Ohio. Only the memorial page from West Virginia includes a photo of a gravestone.
