• He was buried in 1891 in the Hurricane Cemetery in Hale, MO.

• His obituary was published in the Daily Democrat in 1891.

Frank Dye, of Grace, ended his own life Sunday morning with a shot gun.

W. Plummer, of Grace, was the first man to reach the body and from him the Democrat was given the facts about as follows:

The deceased was about 40 years of age, and for several years had been in very bad health. For a good while he had been addicted to the use of morphine and whiskey, which with his bad health, rendered his condition unbearable.

He was living with his father at Grace. Sunday morning he arose from the couch on which he had been lying, dressed himself, walked through the dining room and kitchen to the porch and within a moment the report of the gun was heard. The family and neighbors reached him a minute afterwards, but he was beyond any earthly aid. The whole top of the head had been blown off, and pieces of the skull and brain were found 20 feet away. The gun with which the act had been committed was still in his hands, the barrel lying on his breast and the stalk (sic) between his legs. It was such a plain case of suicide that no inquest was held. The remains were buried at the Hurricane Cemetery.

The neighbors had heard the unfortunate man say more than once that he would kill himself if he had an opportunity and for that reason he had not been left alone for three months or more.

Mr. Dye lived at Battaville for 30 years or more, and three years ago moved to Grace with his father. He was unmarried.
