Cory (as he was known), married Garnett Irene Boyle, 3 Dec 1936, in Santa Ana, CA. They had four children who were all living at the time this bio was written.

Excerpts from his obituary, The Coloradoan (August 3, 2004):

Charles Cory Carr Sr., 92, of Fort Collins, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2004, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Cory was born in Oakmont just outside Pittsburgh, the son of Charles Elwood Carr and Bess Cory Carr. On Dec. 3, 1936, he eloped with his beloved Garnett Irene Boyle to Santa Ana, Calif. They enjoyed 58 years of wedded bliss until Garnett's death in February 1994.

Cory attended schools in Valparaiso, Ind., Long Beach, Calif., and in 1938, received his B. S. degree in mechanical engineering from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM

In 1942, Cory enlisted in the Navy. In 1943, he served with PT Boat Squadron 9 (Kelly's Kids) in charge of repairs and later served as a repair officer during the World War II Pacific campaign in Bougainville, Solomons, South Pacific aboard the USS Portunus (AGP-4). During the Korean War, he served as a weapons officer aboard the USS Prairie (AD-15). Cory worked at the Missile Test Center in Point Mugu, Calif., as a mechanical engineer, where he designed missile launch pads. His work is on display at the Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. While in the Navy, he received the Bronze Star and was honorably discharged with the rank of lieutenant commander.

Cory was an avid tennis player who started playing at a very young age. He played up until May 2003. He competed in the Rocky Mountain Senior Olympics from 1998 to 2001 and received gold, bronze and silver medals in doubles competition.

Cory had an expansive electric train collection that spanned more than 40 years. 4
