  Marriage Notes:

Following their marriage in 1925 in the central valley of California, Garfield and wife soon moved to Honolulu where they appeared in the 1930 and 1940 census. Garfield worked as a carpenter.

Garfield worked with the US Engineers (Army Engineers ?) starting at least in 1942 where the World War II Draft Registration Card shows him living in "Hickham Housing" at Hickam Field in Honolulu. The registration card shows his wife, Betty, living back at 1834 West Jordan Avenue in Shreveport, LA. Obviously she moved back to Louisiana following the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor in 1941 but Garfield remained in Hawaii to work construction.
