bullet  General Notes:

Opal Curry-Whitla died of heart disease. She is buried in Columbiana County Memorial Park, overlooking what used to be the Blue Willow Truck Stop.

Grandma (Opal Curry-Whitla (Hunziker)) was once married to Frank Bosco. On Frank's death bed, he told Grandma that she would never have a moment's peace until she was with him. Grandpa Bosco, while he was bedridden, used to tap on the floor with his cane when he needed Grandma. She owned a beauty and exercise parlor in the basement of her house. It is said that as soon as she would reach the bottom step into the beauty salon, Grandpa Bosco would begin tapping on the floor for her to come back up. They say that when Grandpa Bosco died, the tapping did not. The stories are that until the day Grandma died, whenever she would go into the basement, anyone down there could hear the tapping of Grandpa Bosco's cane. Since the day Grandma died there have been many owners of the house that Grandpa Bosco and Grandma shared together. It is said that whoever buys the house and moves in not only hear Grandpa Bosco's cane tapping, but they can also hear Grandma walking across the floor in her high heels. People tend to re-sell rather rapidly.

Grandma also owned a truck stop/restaurant on Highway 30 called "The Blue Willow" just on the edge of East Liverpool. She was buried at Columbiana County Memorial Park, according to her wishes, in a spot and in such a way that she looks out over that truck stop. As of 4/12/1995 the truck stop is still there but is not in business. There was a fire in 1991 and since then there has been no business established there.
