Nearly all of the early records for George show his surname spelled as "Danner" while his father's records and children's records all show the name spelled as "Darner". His later records show his surname spelled as Darner.

When George remarried in 1865, he still had at least two children from his first wife living with him. These would have included the following:
possibly Martha Ellen, age 23, married to Mahlon SMITH on unknown date
John Thomas, age 21, married 3 years later in 1868
possibly Alice Jeanette, age 11, but believed to have died earlier
Emma, age 9, married later to Joe Smith.

Up until the 1880 census when George was about 58 years old, his records of his age generally provided a birth year of about 1821. But beginning with the 1880 census and subsequent records, George generally provided an age indicating a birth year of about 1823. It's as if he somehow forgot his actual birth year and in his later years just went with the 1823 date. However, he had a sister, Lydia, that was born in 1823 so I tend to believe the 1821 date as the more credible one.

George was initially buried in the Fairfield Cemetery when his second wife, Sarah, died in 1918. He was later transferred to the Woodland Cemetery, Reburial Card, Lot 111, Sec 120.

His gravestone apparently gives incorrect birth and death dates; it says 1820 instead of 1821 for a birth date and 1902 instead of 1901 for a death date.
