Death record shows her name as Rellis and indicates cause of death as "abscess in the head". Attending physician was H. C. (Henry Clay) Darner, M.D. of Springdale, Iowa. It is interesting to note that Henry Clay Darner was the 2nd great-granduncle to myself (Brian L. Lightfoot) and although there was no direct relationship between Henry and Rellie or her parents, I wonder if they maintained any type of close family connection.

• She was buried on 26 March 1881 in the Pee Dee Cemetery in Springdale Township, Cedar County, IA.

Ross and Rellie share one common gravestone in Pee Dee cemetery. It is a large sandstone monument approximately 18" wide and about 48" high sitting on top of a large concrete base. The stone is badly weathered as of 2000 but the inscriptions can still be read. "Ross, born and died Dec 21, 1881; Rellie, born Oct 14, 1878, died Mar 24, 1881. Two Treasures Gone, Children of L & C". (Lester and Catharine). At the base are large letters of the surname LIGHTFOOT.
