bullet  General Notes:

Jacob's name was listed on his father's probate letter in Williams County, Ohio on January 5, 1880 and it indicates that Jacob and his brother lived in Stryker, Williams County, Ohio.
----------------------------------------

Jacob Arnsberger's name appears on the Williams County Taxable Personal Property list of 1867.
----------------------------------------

While it is known that Jacob Arnsberger was married in 1840, there is no proof as to the location. But because his parents and the rest of their children did not move from Wayne County until between 1843 and 1847, it must be assumed that Jacob's marriage must have happened in Wayne County.

It must also be assumed that he and his wife, Elizabeth, also moved with his parents between 1843 and 1847 because they show up in the 1850 and 1860 census in Williams County, as do the parents and the majority of his siblings.

By 1869, two of his sons, James and Cyrus, had moved to Nebraska and were married there shortly thereafter. His third remaining son, Reuben, who was his oldest, was declared incompetent in Williams County, Ohio in 1869 and was a patient in a State Hospital.

I am unable to locate Jacob and his wife in the 1870 census.

When his wife died in 1874, she was buried in Williams County. I believe that following her death, the elderly Jacob went to Nebraska as he is found in 1880 living with his married son, James, in Guide Rock, Webster County, Nebraska.

On 15 Dec 1881, he was remarried to Elizabeth Wildes in Orleans, Harlan County, Nebraska which was nearby where his other son, Cyrus, lived.

I am unable to locate Jacob and his 2nd wife in the 1900 census.

His whereabouts between 1881 and 1910 are largely unknown. His son, James, had moved from Nebraska to Wyoming in 1894 and then on to Idaho by 1900. His other son, Cyrus, probably stayed in Harlan County, Nebraska because Cyrus' daughter was married there in 1891.

In 1910, Jacob, died supposedly in Williams County and is buried in Boynton Cemetery there. While his death location is not proven, it seems plausible that he may have returned to his "home town".

NOTE - Emma Ausberger was probably Emma Mycock who was not related to the Arnsberger family. She would later marry the son, James and appears with him on the 1880 US Census. It was probably an enumerator error to give her the surname of Ausberger instead of Mycock.
