CALVIN E. DARNER died at the Washington County Hospital Monday. He was born and reared in Burkittsville, the son of Henry and Mary Edmonds Darner.

He was engaged in the marble and monumental business in Greencastle, Pa., for 15 years before establishing the same business in Hagerstown 29 years ago. Known as an active member of Christ Reformed church, Mr. Darner was also actively associated with the Republican party, the Masonic fraternity and the Kiwanis. He was a well-known citizen and business man.

Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Gordon, Hagerstown; sons, Edwin F., Hagerstown; Dr. H. L., Washington; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rufus Smith, Springfield, O.; b
brothers, Henry, Dayton, O.; and James, Jefferson, Frederick Co.
