bullet  General Notes:

Daniel, Harriet, John, and Edward Marvin all moved from Michigan to McHenry County, Illinois by 1900. Daniel and John were both married in Illinois in 1899 and 1900 respectively but Harriet was married in Michigan in 1889. Edward must not have gotten along with his other brothers because he was boarding with and working as a farm laborer for a different family. Their father, Alexander, was living with John and his wife for the 1910 US Census but I have yet to locate him in the 1900 US Census. There may possibly be other siblings that also moved to McHenry County, Illinois but I suspect most of the sisters may have already been married and either stayed back in Michigan or if they did move, I can't locate them because I don't know their married names.
----------------------------------------------

Carol Renton remembers visiting what her father called "Grandma Harvard" or "Grandma Putman" during the early 1950s when she was just a toddler. The name Harvard was because she lived in or near the town of Harvard, Illinois. Harriett Marvin was divorced from William Renton sometime between 1900 and 1908 and she was remarried to Claude Putman, thus the name Grandma Putman. Apparently William Renton moved back to Michigan where he eventually was remarried twice again. All of the Renton children remained with Harriett and were raise by her and her second husband, Claude Putman. Harriett's death was on 9 Jan 1952.
