⁶ Francis William Darner, 83, of 614 West 2nd St., one of the organizers of the Phoenix Trust Co., died here at 3:30 am today at the Ottumwa Hospital. One of the city's veteran real estate dealers, he also had interests in a feed barn and wallpaper & paint businesses.

He was a son of Joseph H. and Hattie A. Darner, born in Zanesville, Ohio, Nov 13, 1862. He spent his boyhood on a Wapello County farm on which his parents moved in 1865. He married Clara T. Kielhopf, on Mar 9, 1886.

He is survived by brother John H. of Fremont; sisters Ella Woodard of Oskaloosa, and Anna Stout of Ottumwa; five sons, Joseph A. and Philip B, both of Ottumwa; John J. of Moline, IL; Frank W of Arlington, VA; and Paul of Calendonia, WI; three daughters, Lula J. Brann of Des Moines, Mamie E. Bailey of Ottumwa and Edith K. Darner of Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by three children, Judson, Clara Johnson and Alvin.

Funeral services were conducted by O L Welshone, pastor of the Church of the Open Bible, and Rev. Earnest Illam, pastor of The Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Kirkville Cemetery.
