Caterina married Daniel Lightfoot, son of William Lightfoot and Sarah S. Stewart, about 1797 in Ruhl, MD.5 (Daniel Lightfoot was born in 1768 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, VA, British Colonial America 3 5 7, baptized on 20 February 1768 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, VA, British Colonial America 8 and died after June 1840 in , Wayne County, OH 5 6.)

bullet  Noted events in their marriage were:

• They appeared on the 1810 US Census in Monaghan Township, York County, PA on August 1810. 9

Page 194, Roll 57
Monaghan Township, York, Pennsylvania, United States

1 Male 26-44..Daniel Lightfoot..Head..(age 42)

1 Female 26-44..(probably Chaterina, age31)
5 Females under 10..(probably Maria, age 10; Esther, age 9; Annie, age 8; Sophia, age 7; and Elizabeth, age 5)

7 Total in household

NOTE - This census record seems to skip one person, Sarah Lightfoot, who would have been about 12 years old. If she were present in the household with all the other young daughters, then the total number of persons would have been 8 instead of 7.

• They appeared on the 1820 US Census in Monaghan Township, York County, PA on August 1820. 10

4 Males under 10..(probably Daniel Jr, 9; John, 5; Samuel, 3; William, 1)
1 Male 45+..Dan'l Lightfoot..Head..(age 52)

1 Female under 10..(probably Fanny, 7)
3 Females 10-16..(probably Elizabeth, 15; unknown; unknown)
2 Females 16-26..(probably Esther, 19; Sophia, 17)
1 Female 26-45..(probably Chaterina, 41)

12 Total in household

NOTE - May be indexed as "Dane Litefort" due to poor handwriting.

• They appeared on the 1830 US Census in Monaghan Township, York County, PA on June 1830. 11

1830 US Census
Page 276, Roll 160
Monaghan Township, York, Pennsylvania

2 Males 5-10..(probably William Lightfoot, 11; Samuel Lightfoot, 12)
2 Males 10-15..(probably John Lightfoot, 15; Daniel Lightfoot, 18)
1 Male 50-60..Daniel Lightfoot..Head..(age 62, should have been in the 60-70 category)

1 Female under 5..(probably Martha L. Lightfoot, 5)
2 Females 5-10..(probably Charlotte Lightfoot, 5; Catharine Lightfoot, 9)
1 Female 10-15..(unknown)
2 Females 15-20 (probably Fanny Lightfoot, 17; possibly Sophia but her actual age was 27)
1 Female 40-50..(probably wife Chaterina Salome Schmidt, about 51)

The ages and names are not quite perfect fits so either the enumeration ages were off or the supposed actual birth years of some of the children are not correct.

Somewhat troubling would be the name of the second female, age 15-20. Fanny Lightfoot fits well into that catagory but there are no other unmarried daughters known to be still in the household other than Sophia who is supposedly 27 years old.

Equally troubling is the possible unknown name of a female in the age 10-15 category.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

E-mail from Keith A. Dull:
The first three daughters, Maria, Esther, and Sophia, were baptized at the Steltz Lutheran Church which is on the York County, Codonus Township, and Baltimore County border. (NOTE - Sarah was actually their first daughter and there was Annie who was born between Esther and Sophia.)

She seems to have done extensive research on the Lightfoot family and has more information on the "original" Daniel Lightfoot's wife's family, the Algar/Kennedys. She mentioned in her letter to Yvonne's aunt that she had received much of her information from a cousin, Donna Trapnell in San Diego, California.
