Lydia had survived scarlet fever and had suffered from heart failure early in her life. My grandmother remembered that Lydia was unable to do much physical work and was a gifted seamstress and tatted lace. I have some of the lace work that she tatted and it is so delicate and detailed. Imagine white thread crocheted into garments, socks, etc.
